Globetrotters & Changemakers: Making a World of Difference

8 July, 2019

Students heard from special guests and University of Western Australia students making a difference on an international scale at Globetrotters & Changemakers. This panel event was held on Tuesday, 20 August 2019 from 1-2pm at Hemsley Learning Suite, Reid Library and hosted by The McCusker Centre for Citizenship Student Advisory Committee.

Meet the panel: Three-time Paralympic gold medallist and current world record holder for blind marathon runners Henry Wanyoike and fellow Kenyan Francis Kamau will join Pollinate Energy Fellowship Program participants Meisha Bull and Natalie Fretton, who recently returned from their global internship in India.

Champion athlete Wanyoike, who lost 95% of his eyesight after suffering a stroke at age 21, established The Henry Wanyoike Foundation that promotes disability rights in Kenya through donations, scholarships and advocacy. This marks the first time he has visited Australia since winning his first gold medal at the Sydney Paralympic Games in 2000.
