AI Policy Research & Development Intern

Role Title: AI Policy Research & Development Intern

Organisation: Youth Affairs Council of WA (YACWA)

Internship Period: Summer (November - December)

Location: Perth

Role Description

The AI Policy Research & Development Intern will support YACWA’s Operations team to explore how artificial intelligence tools are currently being used across the organisation and to inform the development of an internal AI Use Policy. This project will help ensure YACWA uses emerging technologies ethically, safely, and in line with our organisational values.
Over the course of the internship, the intern will design and conduct a short staff survey about current AI use, interview key staff, research how other community sector and not-for-profit organisations are approaching AI, and identify key risks, opportunities, and considerations relevant to a youth-focused NFP. Using these insights, they will develop a draft AI Use Policy aligned with YACWA’s existing internal policies and procedures. The intern will work all YACWA’s staff, including the Advisory Service Manager and Acting Advocacy and Engagement Manager.
