Project Coordinator

Role Title: Project Coordinator

Organisation: YMCA WA

Internship Period: Semester 1 (February - May)

Location: Welshpool

Role Description

The Y-WA are in the initial stages of planning a project with the aim of taking a group of young people (aged 15-25) to walk the Kokoda Trek in October 2023. Due to the physical and mental challenges the trek poses plus the health and security measures required this project is a year-long piece of work, with the majority of the planning and scheduling work needed to be achieved in the first 6 months of 2023. The young people we are planning on taking on this adventure of a life-time are people that would not normally be afforded such an opportunity and will already have a connection with one of our youth service divisions. We aim to take young people from Perth metro, Kalgoorlie and Newman.
The Project Coordinator will directly support the Project Manager and each week will be tasked with a focus area (work stream) to concentrate on. Focus areas are as follows: - Marketing - Finance and sponsorship - Fundraising - Recruitment - Travel logistics - Pre-trek training and camps - Project management (writing up minutes, follow-up actions, updating project schedule, progress reporting, risk mitigation, assisting with issue resolution) - Education
