Working with Melville Cares, Maggie supported the Care Song program, a partnership between Melville Cares, the City of Melville and Care Song. The choir brings together people living with dementia and their carers, using music to support connection and participation.

Mia Fleay – Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Pathology and Laboratory Medicine) Research Intern, The Kids Research Institute Australia Mia Fleay initially applied for a McCusker Centre for Citizenship internship to gain hands-on experience in medical research, hoping to better understand where her degree could lead. What she found was a role that went beyond laboratory work and showed her how research connects directly to community health.

When Barun Chhetri began his internship with the City of Canning, he stepped into work that was both complex and unfinished. The Cannington District Leadership Group (DLG) — a collaboration of local governments, state agencies and community organisations — had a clear purpose, but no consistent structure to guide its work or bring its priorities into focus. Barun’s role was to help change that.
