Role Title: Onboarding New Staff Intern

Internship Period: Semester 2 (July – October)

Location: Bayswater/Noranda

Role Description

Support Orana House by managing the end-to-end onboarding process for new staff to ensure smooth integration, compliance with organisational policies, and a positive first experience.
Key responsibilities: Coordinate recruitment handover and prepare offer letters, contracts, and starter paperwork. Develop and maintain onboarding schedules, ensuring timely completion of pre-employment checks (police, working with vulnerable people, right to work) and required vaccinations. Prepare induction materials and welcome packs, and run or co-facilitate orientation sessions covering organisation values, policies, health & safety, and role-specific procedures. Set up staff IT accounts, access credentials, and workspace/equipment; liaise with HR, payroll, IT, and line managers to ensure readiness. Assign and communicate mandatory training modules; track completion and follow up on outstanding requirements. Coordinate mentorship or buddy pairings and check-ins during probation periods; collect feedback from new staff and managers to improve the onboarding experience. Maintain accurate onboarding records and contribute to continuous improvement of processes and resources. Skills & experience: Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with HR processes, compliance checks, and learning management systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic HR/HRIS platforms.
