Role Description

The Legal Policy and Risk Governance Intern will support Consumer Credit Legal Service WA (CCLS) to review, consolidate, and update its legal service policies and procedures in alignment with Community Legal Centres Australia Risk Management Guide.
Working under the supervision of a Senior Solicitor, the intern will assist with reviewing current and previous versions of CCLS’ service delivery policies, procedures, and the Risk Management Guide to ensure compliance, clarity, and consistency, and to identify duplication, gaps, or outdated content. The role involves legal research, policy drafting, and consultation with legal staff to ensure policies reflect contemporary legal practice, regulatory obligations, and best practice in delivering legal services to vulnerable clients. This internship offers a practical opportunity for a postgraduate law student to contribute to governance-critical legal work within a specialist community legal centre while developing professional skills in legal policy development and risk management, and stakeholder consultation.
