Role Title: WHS Systems & Process Improvement Intern

Internship Period: Semester 1 (February - May)
Location: Nedlands
The City of Nedlands is strengthening WHS capability by improving key digital systems and ensuring staff have a clear, consistent process for reporting and managing hazards and incidents. This internship supports three linked priorities:
1. Microsoft 365 WHS Chatbot: ensure the internal WHS chatbot is fully functional, properly indexed, and delivering consistent and accurate answers.
2. WorkMetrics WHS System (SaaS): improve configuration and internal workflows in WorkMetrics (https://www.workmetrics.com/) so hazard/incident reporting and case management aligns with City operational needs.
3. Hazard/Incident Reporting & Management Procedure + Process Map: develop a practical protocol/procedure and a ProMapp process diagram that reflects the agreed workflow and system configuration.
Deliverables (End-of-internship outputs)
By the end of the placement, the intern will aim to deliver:
1. M365 WHS Chatbot Improvement Pack
o indexing/content-source map, key issues found, fixes implemented where possible, and a short “keep it healthy” guide
2. WorkMetrics Configuration & Workflow Pack
o recommended configuration settings, hazard + incident workflow maps, and a short admin/user guide
3. Forms Effectiveness Review + Improvements
4. Hazard/Incident Reporting & Management Procedure
5. ProMapp Process Diagram
• The intern will provide a 15-minute presentation at the end of the project summarising outcomes, improvements made, and recommendations.
The City of Nedlands is situated just 7km from Perth and stretches from the banks of the beautiful Swan River to the edge of the Indian Ocean. A population of over 21,000 live in the suburbs Nedlands, Dalkeith, Mt Claremont, Swanbourne, Karrakatta, and parts of Floreat and Shenton Park. The City is made up of four wards – Melvista, Hollywood, Dalkeith and Coastal.
