Role Description

The HR Intern role at Avenues Australia is designed to establish and document consistent, effective staff onboarding and offboarding processes. This is a two-phase project; Phase 1 focuses on the onboarding process, and Phase 2 (a subsequent internship) will introduce automated workflows in collaboration with an IT intern.
The primary responsibility of this role is to support in defining how onboarding should work, establish the process inside Zoho People, and produce clear documentation that enables managers and administrators to onboard new staff consistently and confidently. The work directly supports Avenues Australia’s ability to grow its team and deliver high-quality services to clients. Through structured discovery, collaborative process design, practical system configuration, and thorough documentation, the HR Intern will contribute to a more consistent and professional staff experience at Avenues Australia, and lay the groundwork for future automation. You will have the ability to: • Map and analyse existing HR processes, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement in a real-world human services setting. • Design and implement a structured onboarding process within Zoho People, configuring checklists and task assignments. • Work collaboratively with an IT and organisational stakeholders to produce integrated HR and IT onboarding documentation. • Produce professional, plain-language process documentation and a handover package
