Role Title: Data Systems Intern - PoCT Dashboards
Organisation: Department of Health
Internship Period: Semester 1 (February - May)
Location: East Perth
The Sexual Health and Blood-borne Virus Program administer a syphilis point-of-care testing program, where data is collected on patient demographics and testing results. Currently, the data is sent by individual services using various templates which capture the data from their service, which is then manually transposed into a master spreadsheet which provides access to all testing data since the program began in 2020. This can be filtered to give information on testing rates, test reactivity, and other required information. However, there is large amount of manual work involved in this, and filtering of the spreadsheet can provide inconsistent results.
A (PowerBI) dashboard will provide opportunity to read data at a glance and present it to audiences where required.
If the dashboard is completed prior to the end of the internship the intern can then evaluate data sources for automation opportunities.
WA Health is now governed by the Health Services Act 2016.
The new legislation represents a significant reform in health, and is designed to modernise the way our health services are structured, governed and delivered; to promote better health, better care and better value to all Western Australians.
The legislation established the Department of Health as ‘System Manager’ for WA Health, providing stewardship, guidance and support to our health services using a collection of binding Policy Frameworks in 18 key areas of health service delivery, to ensure they provide consistent, efficient and effective services into the future.
