Organisation: Council of the Ageing WA (COTA)
Internship Period: Semester 2 (July – October)
Location: The Perron Centre, 61 Kitchener Ave, Victoria Park WA 6100
This intern will work with the COTA WA team to help progress a project focused on supporting older women who are at risk of homelessness in Western Australia.
The project builds on the work of two previous McCusker internship rounds — the first focusing on the causes of housing insecurity for older women, and the second developing a basic version of a Chatbot to help women find services and information. The intern’s job will be to take the next step: helping us find funding and support to further develop and launch the Research Paper, and to develop the Chatbot into a public resource for older women.
The intern will help:
- Write a funding proposal to government, philanthropic and private funders;
- Identify potential partners to support or host the Chatbot;
- Draft communication materials to explain the purpose of the project;
- Help prepare for meetings or engagement with government and community organisations. building up to the launch;
- Contribute to plans for how to test the Chatbot with older women and service providers.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys communications and philanthropy, wants to learn how to get funding for social impact work, and is interested in making a difference for vulnerable older women in WA. The intern will work directly with the CEO and Chair of COTA WA and collaborate with the broader team.
