Role Description

The Y WA has a rich and diverse history spanning more than a century of service to Western Australian communities. This internship will support the preservation, documentation and accessibility of the organisation's historical archives and artefact collection, ensuring significant records and objects are safeguarded for future generations.
Working alongside The Y WA's Volunteer Historian and Strategic Partnerships, Advocacy & Philanthropy Manager, the successful candidate will contribute to the digital preservation of historical materials, including handwritten correspondence, photographs, publications and organisational records. The role will also support the development of a cataloguing framework for the organisation's physical artefact collection, some of which dates back more than 100 years. This placement provides a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in archival management, collections documentation, historical research and digital preservation while contributing to the conservation of an important community history.
