Role Title: Youth Advisory Committee Intern
Organisation: Australian Red Cross (WA)
Internship Period: Semester 1 (February - May)
Location: East Perth
Role Purpose
The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is a governance committee of Australian Red Cross that supports the organisation through the planning and delivery of youth-related campaigns and events. The YAC also provides advice to the State Board and senior staff, leads youth engagement initiatives, and promotes the work of Red Cross.
Key Responsibilities
• Attend monthly meetings (in person or via teleconference) plus an annual Planning Day
• Participate in project team meetings and contribute to project work
• Lead the design and implementation of youth projects, events and initiatives (e.g., Youth Week)
• Provide progress updates to the YAC Chair or project lead
• Represent the YAC on other committees when appointed
• Support Red Cross events (AGM, World Red Cross Day, ANZAC Day, Member Forums etc.)
• Research youth-related topics and prepare written reports
• Support University Clubs, Clubs and Branches as needed
• Collaborate with YACs across other States/Territories
• Advocate for youth participation within Red Cross activities
• Provide youth-focused advice on programs and business functions
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Interest or experience in coordinating projects or events
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including confident presenting
• Marketing/social media experience (desirable)
• Experience with community organisations (desirable)
• Ability to work independently or as part of a diverse, dispersed team
• Strong organisational and time
