Role Title: Research Intern (Evidence Mapping): Interventions for Type 1 Diabetes and Eating and Body Image Concerns
Organisation: The Kids Research Institute Australia
Internship Period: Semester 2 (July – October)
Location: Perth Children's Hospital, Nedlands
This internship is based at The Kids Research Institute Australia within the Rio Tinto Children’s Diabetes Centre.
Supervised by Dr Anna Boggiss, the intern will contribute to mapping existing interventions that support young people with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) experiencing concerns with eating and body image. T1D requires daily attention to food intake, weight, and insulin dosing, which can shape eating behaviours and body image - creating unique challenges for young people and their families.
The intern will conduct a mapping review to identify and categorise interventions across different levels of intensity (e.g. prevention, early intervention, specialist care). This work will contribute to the development of a stepped care framework to improve psychosocial support pathways for young people with T1D.
This project is ideal for students interested in mental health, intervention research, and translating evidence into practical models of care.
The Kids Research Institute Australia is based within the Perth Children’s Hospital, and is one of the largest, and most successful medical research institutes in Australia, comprising a dedicated and diverse team of around 1,000 staff, students and honoraries.
