Role Title: Community Development and Social Work Intern

Internship Purpose
This internship provides a Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) student with the opportunity to develop practical skills in a community legal setting, where legal and social issues often intersect. The intern will contribute to client-centred services, community engagement and advocacy projects that support equitable access to justice while gaining an understanding of trauma-informed, culturally responsive and strengths-based practice.
Key Responsibilities
Research community resources and services available to clients across the Kimberley region.
Contribute to community development initiatives and legal education projects that promote awareness of legal rights and available support services.
Assist in developing resource materials, fact sheets and information for clients and community organisations.
Support program evaluation by collecting and analysing feedback and preparing summary reports.
Participate in campaign impact assessments and program logic workshops
Assist with strategically planning and communicating with stakeholders for the launch of an advocacy report
Attend staff meetings, case discussions (where appropriate), professional development sessions and community outreach activities.
Undertake research into social issues affecting clients, including family violence, elder abuse, tenancy, child protection and access to services.
Assist with administrative tasks
To support and empower Kimberley people and communities to understand their rights and responsibilities, and to overcome injustice.
