Role Title: RoIP Platform Feedback & Requirements Support Intern
Organisation: Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES)
Internship Period: Winter (June - July)
Location: Belmont
Marine Rescue WA uses a Radio over IP platform to support VHF marine radio communications between Marine Rescue volunteers and vessels on the water. As part of future planning for the refurbishment of this platform, the project team is seeking an intern to help capture and analyse feedback from the volunteers who use the system in real operational environments.
This role will focus on understanding the current user experience of the RoIP platform. The intern will help collect, organise and analyse volunteer feedback about what is working well, what causes difficulty, what issues occur repeatedly, what workarounds are being used, and what improvements would make the platform easier and more reliable for volunteers to use.
The intern will assist in developing structured feedback tools, such as survey or interview questions, and will help convert the information gathered into useful project outputs. These may include a feedback summary report, issue categorisation matrix, user experience themes, and a requirements input register for consideration by the project team.
This is a feedback and requirements support role, not a technical design role. The intern will not be responsible for designing the future RoIP platform, selecting products or vendors, making technical decisions, resolving faults, or providing technical support to Marine Rescue Groups. Their contribution will be to help ensure that the volunteer user experience is clearly understood and appropriately documented.
