Role Title: Project Intern - Emergency Relief and Support Strategy and Capability
Organisation: Department of Communities
Internship Period: Winter (June - July)
Location: Fremantle
The Emergency Relief and Support (ERS) Directorate is seeking a motivated intern to assist with designing and developing a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework to evaluate the outcomes achieved through its emergency relief and support recovery programs at the Department of Communities.
This role is part of the ERS State Preparedness and Capability Team, which assists in coordinating of capability, preparedness and readiness activities so that Communities and the State is positioned to respond to emergency events arising from any of the 28 hazards prescribed in the State’s Emergency Management legislative framework.
ERS focuses on the 'people-element' of emergency management. The purpose of the directorate is to reduce the immediate and long-term impact of emergencies on individuals and communities. The goal of the M&E framework is to assess the impact of the recovery programs implemented by the ERS directorate. This will provide a standardised mechanism for tracking the performance and results of the ERS programs to enhance accountability, inform decision making, demonstrate value and support continuous improvement.
There is currently no M&E Framework that is designed to specifically evaluate the impact of emergency relief and support services. It is expected that the intern will draw from the National Monitoring and Evaluation Framework for Disaster Recovery Programs and the WA Post-Disaster Cultural Evaluation Framework, which was developed by Communities
The Department collaborates to create pathways that enable individual, family and community wellbeing. What we do has far-reaching impacts across all aspects of society. Supporting wellbeing can mean many things including ensuring children are safe, helping people access a home, or creating diverse and inclusive communities.
