Role Title: Aboriginal Health Study Literature Review Intern
Organisation: The Kids Research Institute Australia
Internship Period: Semester 2 (July – October)
Location: Nedlands
The study the intern will be working on is called the WA Aboriginal Child Health Survey Linked Data Study (WAACHS). The Study uses a linked dataset based on a population representative sample of Aboriginal children and their families (the 2000-02 WAACHS) and government data across health, education, child protection, and justice domains. This provides the opportunity to map pathways through services over time from birth into adulthood for individuals and within families. With these data we hope to determine how early life environments and social and cultural factors contribute to Aboriginal health outcomes, where and when programs can be most effective to improve the lives of Aboriginal children and families. The role would involve contributing to some literature reviews on topics of child protection and justice.
The Kids Research Institute Australia is based within the Perth Children’s Hospital, and is one of the largest, and most successful medical research institutes in Australia, comprising a dedicated and diverse team of around 1,000 staff, students and honoraries. We've created a bold blueprint that brings together community, researchers, practitioners, policy makers and funders, who share our vision to improve the health and wellbeing of children through excellence in research.
