Role Title: Cystic fibrosis related liver disease data registry and analysis intern
Organisation: North Metropolitan Health Service
Internship Period: Semester 2 (July – October)
Location: Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, WA 6008
Liver disease is now a significant source of illness in cystic fibrosis (CF) patients. Recent advances in lung health in CF are largely due to CF modulator drugs. Our understanding of how these drugs affect liver health in CF patients is poorly understood. The respiratory and liver departments in Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital are collaborating to create complex REDcap patient and data registries with the aim of better understanding how these drugs affect liver health in CF patients. Ultimately our goal is to improve the care of CF patients in WA by developing methods of identifying patients who are at higher risk of liver related complications from CF modulator treatment. We request a McCusker Intern to design, collect, and analyse data from REDcap registries in alignment with the patient and research needs of the service. This requires writing of code and designing in REDcap. The intern will work under the supervision of a Senior Hepatology Fellow as well as Head of Department.
