Role Title: Civil Law Framework Intern
Organisation: Legal Aid WA
Internship Period: Summer (November - December)
Location: Perth
In Semester 2, 2023, Semester 1 2024, and Semester 1 2025, Legal Aid WA Civil Law Division engaged an intern through the McCusker Centre for Citizenship to develop a statement of purpose, a set of core values and values in action for the Civil Law Division at Legal Aid WA, and conduct a literature review into unmet Civil Legal need within Western Australia. The project interns consulted with staff and stakeholders.
The third step of the project looked at the civil law services that the Division provides and
compared these to the areas of law identified in the legal needs literature review, and
consider whether they are aligned to this, and to the statement of purpose, and produced a
report and recommendations about future service delivery.
This project will continue to look at the report, specifically in relation to Civil Law Matter types, and maximising internal referrals into the Division.
The intern will work directly with the Civil Law Division Director and Leadership team, and
will engage with the Division's staff, and other staff within Legal Aid WA. The intern may also consult with external stakeholders.
