Role Title: Project Intern: Bushfire Ready Program

The intern will support the Bushfire Ready Program by helping collate accurate information on the number of Bushfire Ready Groups operating across Western Australia. This role will strengthen community resilience by ensuring program leaders have clear visibility of group activity state wide.
Responsibilities would include:
Data collation: Gather and consolidate information on Bushfire Ready Groups from existing facilitator records.
Facilitator engagement: Reach out to registered Bushfire Ready Facilitators to confirm the number of groups they support.
Database management: Develop and maintain a centralized record of Bushfire Ready Groups, including location, facilitator details, and group activity status.
Communication support: Draft and distribute surveys, emails, or phone scripts to facilitators to streamline data collection.
Reporting: Prepare summary reports and visual dashboards to present findings to program facilitators.
Process improvement: Recommend efficient methods for ongoing data collection and tracking of group numbers.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) was established on the 1st November 2012, and performs a critical role coordinating emergency services for a range of natural disasters and emergency incidents threatening life and property.
It comprises of 1600 operational personnel and corporate staff members. It also has an extensive network of more than 27,000 volunteers engaged in the delivery of services to the community.
The Operational Research and Development branch’s purpose is to enable the continuous improvement of our operational assets including firefighting fleet, equipment and personal protective clothing to enhance service delivery to the community and increase the capability of the department.
