Role Title: Research Intern Disability devision: Disability Service Planning Fremantle

The intern would undertake a review of literature and research into strategies to improve cultural safety in the delivery of disability services for
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including:
1) existing programs that have implemented across Australia (and could be implemented in the context of disability supports and services)
designed to transform organisational culture, emphasising the importance of cultural respect and cultural safety, such as robust training
programs to increase cultural competency across the workforce, and the development of cultural safety standards to underpin service design
and delivery.
2) any services or programs across Australia, designed to support Aboriginal people and delivered mostly by non-Aboriginal providers/staff,
that have been evaluated and have demonstrated positive outcomes, in relation to both cultural safety, and 'best practice' standards in the
delivery of services. Ideally this would identify disability services or programs, but may extend to similar service types (health, aged care etc.)
The Department collaborates to create pathways that enable individual, family and community wellbeing. What we do has far-reaching impacts across all aspects of society. Supporting wellbeing can mean many things including ensuring children are safe, helping people access a home, or creating diverse and inclusive communities.
