Role Title: Rainbow Bee-eater Conservation Plan Intern

Organisation: City of Cockburn

Internship Period: Semester 1 (February - May)

Location: Cockburn/Bibra Lake

Role Description

The City of Cockburn (CoC) is home to several bushland reserves where Rainbow Bee-Eaters nest during the summer months. To address these challenges, the City is seeking an intern to develop a plan aimed at improving conservation efforts and community education for this vibrant bird species.
As an intern, you’ll focus on: • Researching and reviewing best-practice conservation strategies to protect Rainbow Bee-Eaters. • Engaging with other Local Government Authorities (LGAs) to assess their conservation methods and their effectiveness. • Reviewing current practices within CoC, and identifying suitable sites within the City for conservation efforts. • Developing a community education program to raise awareness about Rainbow Bee-Eater conservation. By the end of the internship, you will compile your findings into a concise report and present your recommendations to the Environment and Sustainability team.
