Role Title: Project Intern: Establishment of a Forget Me Not Cafe
Organisation: Pingelly Community Resource Centre on behalf of Pingelly Somerset Alliance Inc.
Internship Period: Winter (June - July)
Location: Pingelly
The Intern will be assisting the Pingelly Community Resource Centre and the Pingelly Community Garden to establish a Forget Me Not Cafe based at the Pingelly community garden.
This will involve research on the model of Forget Me Not Cafes in WA; contact with and completion of the registration requirements; research on the number of local people within a 100km radius of Pingelly who have dementia and their families who may be interested in participating in a monthly Forget Me Not Cafe event, designing cafe events that are supportive of people with dementia and their families (including art days with a local artist, singing days with a local choir instructor, guest speakers, creation of a sensory box and much more; eligibility criteria for participation; cost, budgets, support workers needed and other operational matters to be considered by the community garden committee, claiming arrangements for those participants on Home Care Packages, promotion of the monthly cafe; organise and assist to run the first Forget Me Not Cafe in Pingelly if time permits.
