Role Title: Project Intern: Statewide Playgroup Mapping and Sector Engagement

Internship Period: Semester 2 (July – October)
Location: North Perth
The intern will undertake a state-wide research and community engagement project to identify, map and document playgroups operating across Western Australia. The project will support a better understanding of the playgroup sector and help identify opportunities to strengthen services, resources and support for playgroup leaders and communities.
Key responsibilities will include:
Researching and identifying playgroups operating throughout WA.
Collecting and maintaining information such as locations, contact details, operating status and target participant groups.
Developing and managing a centralised database to support future sector engagement and planning.
Mapping playgroup distribution across regions and identifying areas of strong engagement and potential service gaps.
Designing and implementing a survey, consultation activity or engagement campaign to gather feedback from playgroup leaders.
Analysing data and stakeholder feedback to identify common challenges, support needs and priorities.
Developing recommendations for resources, training, services and communication approaches that would add value to playgroups across the state.
Preparing and presenting project findings in a final report or presentation.
The intern will engage with a range of community stakeholders, primarily service providers and not-for-profit organisations that deliver facilitated playgroups, as well as family support services, community centres, local governments and sector representatives.
Playgroup WA advocates for, promotes, establishes and supports playgroups and
related programs. This enables families and young children to regularly meet, have
fun, make friends, and learn together through play in an inclusive and safe place.
